Is it really free?

Yes, completely free. Mafanikio is sponsored by impact contributors who believe MSMEs are the backbone of Kenya's economy and deserve proper financial tools. We use modern technology to keep costs down and impact high. The core accounting will always be free.

Is my financial data safe?

Your data is encrypted and stored securely. Only you can access your records. We are registered under Kenya's Data Protection Act and we never share your information without your explicit permission. You can export or delete all your data at any time.

Do I need to download an app?

No. Mafanikio works entirely inside WhatsApp — the app you already use every day. No downloads, no sign-ups, no passwords. Just send a message and start.

What if I forget to send a screenshot?

Mafanikio checks your M-Pesa balance from each screenshot. If the numbers don't add up, it gently lets you know some transactions are missing. You can add them later or let Mafanikio note the gap. Your books stay honest either way.

Which languages does it support?

English and Kiswahili. You choose your preferred language when you start, and you can switch anytime.

Can I use it for personal finances too?

Yes! Mafanikio keeps two separate books — one for your business and one for personal spending. You see both, plus a combined view showing your total household savings. For every transaction, just tell Mafanikio if it's business or personal.

Which M-Pesa account types does it support?

Right now, Mafanikio works with Personal M-Pesa — you send screenshots and we handle the rest. If you use Pochi la Biashara, we're building automatic detection so your business and personal transactions classify themselves. Got a Till Number or Paybill? Even better — we're working on direct M-Pesa API integration so your customer payments record automatically, zero screenshots needed. Each upgrade makes Mafanikio smarter.

Can Mafanikio help me with my KRA tax return?

Not yet — but it gives you a big head start. Mafanikio organizes all your income and expenses by category, so when it's time to file, you have clean records instead of a pile of M-Pesa messages. We're working on KRA integration for the future. For now, share your Mafanikio report with your tax advisor and save hours of sorting.

Does it only work with M-Pesa?

For now, yes — Mafanikio is built for M-Pesa transactions in Kenya. If there's enough demand, we plan to expand to other mobile money services and regions in East Africa. One step at a time.

What happens to my data if Mafanikio shuts down?

Your data is yours. You can export everything at any time — all transactions, categories, and reports. If Mafanikio ever closes, we'll give you advance notice and make sure you can download your complete financial history.
